To add a canonical tag to a page in Magento, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Magento administrative panel.
  2. Go to "Stores" -> "Configuration" in the main menu.
  3. Navigate to "Catalog" -> "Catalog" in the left-side menu.
  4. Click on "Search Engine Optimization."
  5. Enable "Use Canonical Link Meta Tag For Categories" and "Use Canonical Link Meta Tag For Products."
  6. Save the configuration by clicking on "Save Config."

The canonical tag will be automatically added to your product and category pages in Magento, ensuring that search engines understand which version of a page to index.
