Webflow automatically generates an XML sitemap for your websites when they are published on a Webflow hosting plan. However, if you need to customize or manually access your XML sitemap, follow these steps:
- Ensure SEO Settings Are Configured:
Go to your project dashboard in Webflow.
Click on Settings for the specific project.
Navigate to the SEO tab.
Make sure the toggle for Auto-generate Sitemap is enabled. This ensures Webflow creates a sitemap for your site automatically.
- Publish Your Website:
For the sitemap to be generated and updated, you need to publish your web project. Click the Publish button in the Designer to publish your site.
- Access the XML Sitemap:
After publishing, access your XML sitemap by appending /sitemap.xml to your site's URL. For example, if your site is www.example.com, your sitemap would be at www.example.com/sitemap.xml.
- Customize Page Indexing (Optional):
In the Designer, go to each page's settings and decide whether you want to exclude any pages from the sitemap. You can do this by unchecking the Indexing option under SEO Settings for a specific page.
- Submit to Search Engines:
Once your sitemap is generated and accessible, submit it to search engines like Google using platforms like Google Search Console. This helps search engines better index your site.
If you need further customization (beyond basic inclusions/exclusions), you might consider exporting and manually editing your sitemap, although Webflow’s default capabilities are generally sufficient for most users. Keep in mind that any changes you make manually would need to be updated independently of your Webflow-generated sitemap.
