To configure Magento to generate SEO-friendly XML sitemaps, follow these steps:

  1. Login to the Magento admin panel.
  2. Go to the "Stores" menu and select "Configuration".
  3. Under "Catalog", select "XML Sitemap".
  4. Expand the "Generation Settings" section.
  5. Set "Enabled" to "Yes".
  6. Set "Frequency" to "Daily" or "Weekly".
  7. Set "Error Email Recipient" to your email address so that you are notified in case of any errors.
  8. Set "Maximum No of URLs Per File" to a number between 5000 and 10000. This will limit the number of URLs in the sitemap file.
  9. Expand the "Search Engine Submission Settings" section.
  10. Set "Enabled" to "Yes".
  11. Enter the full URL of your sitemap index file in the "Sitemap URL" field. This should be in the format "http://yourstore.com/sitemap.xml".
  12. Click the "Save Config" button.

Magento will now generate a sitemap index file that lists all the sitemap files for your store. Each sitemap file will contain up to the maximum number of URLs specified in step 8. Be sure to submit your sitemap index file to Google Search Console and other search engines to ensure that your site is properly indexed.
