To set up Google Analytics 4 on WordPress, follow these steps:
- Sign in to your Google Analytics account. If you don't have one, create a new account.
- Once logged in, click on the "Admin" tab at the bottom left of the sidebar.
- In the "Property" column, select the website property you want to set up with Google Analytics 4.
- Under the "Property" column, click on "Data Streams."
- Click on the "Web" button to create a new data stream for your website.
- Enter the website URL and select the industry category that matches your website. Then, click on "Create Stream."
- In the next screen, you will see your Measurement ID, which starts with "G-". Copy this ID as you will need it for the next steps.
- Login to your WordPress dashboard.
- Install and activate the "Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights" plugin. This is a commonly used plugin to integrate Google Analytics with WordPress.
- Once activated, go to "Insights" in your WordPress dashboard sidebar and click on "Settings."
- Click on the "Authenticate with your Google account" button. Follow the prompts to authenticate your Google account and grant permission to the plugin to access your Google Analytics data.
- After authentication, you will be redirected back to the plugin settings page. Scroll down to the "Tracking" section.
- Look for the input field labeled "Google Analytics UA Tracking ID" and paste the Measurement ID that you copied from Google Analytics 4.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "Save Changes" button.
Congratulations! You have successfully set up Google Analytics 4 on your WordPress website using the MonsterInsights plugin. The plugin will now start tracking your website's data and send it to Google Analytics.
