To set up Google Analytics 4 on WordPress, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Google Analytics account. If you don't have one, create a new account.
  2. Once logged in, click on the "Admin" tab at the bottom left of the sidebar.
  3. In the "Property" column, select the website property you want to set up with Google Analytics 4.
  4. Under the "Property" column, click on "Data Streams."
  5. Click on the "Web" button to create a new data stream for your website.
  6. Enter the website URL and select the industry category that matches your website. Then, click on "Create Stream."
  7. In the next screen, you will see your Measurement ID, which starts with "G-". Copy this ID as you will need it for the next steps.
  8. Login to your WordPress dashboard.
  9. Install and activate the "Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights" plugin. This is a commonly used plugin to integrate Google Analytics with WordPress.
  10. Once activated, go to "Insights" in your WordPress dashboard sidebar and click on "Settings."
  11. Click on the "Authenticate with your Google account" button. Follow the prompts to authenticate your Google account and grant permission to the plugin to access your Google Analytics data.
  12. After authentication, you will be redirected back to the plugin settings page. Scroll down to the "Tracking" section.
  13. Look for the input field labeled "Google Analytics UA Tracking ID" and paste the Measurement ID that you copied from Google Analytics 4.
  14. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "Save Changes" button.

Congratulations! You have successfully set up Google Analytics 4 on your WordPress website using the MonsterInsights plugin. The plugin will now start tracking your website's data and send it to Google Analytics.
