To set up Shopify with Google Analytics 4 (GA4), follow these steps:
- Sign in to your Shopify account and navigate to your admin dashboard.
- Go to the "Online Store" section and click on "Preferences."
- Scroll down to the "Google Analytics" section and paste your GA4 Measurement ID in the corresponding field. Your GA4 Measurement ID should look like "G-XXXXXXXXXX."
- Click "Save" to apply the changes.
- Open a new tab and sign in to your Google Analytics account.
- Select the property for which you want to enable GA4 tracking, or create a new property if necessary.
- Go to the "Admin" section in the bottom left corner of the page.
- Under the "Property" column, click on "Data Streams."
- Click on the "+ Add Stream" button.
- Select "Web" as the source of the data stream.
- Fill in the required information, such as the stream name and website URL.
- Click "Create stream."
- On the next page, copy the Measurement ID provided for the newly created data stream.
- Go back to your Shopify admin dashboard.
- Paste the Measurement ID you copied from Google Analytics into the "Google Analytics" field in the "Additional scripts" section. The Measurement ID should be in the format "G-XXXXXXXXXX."
- Click "Save" to apply the changes.
- Your Shopify store is now set up with GA4. You can start receiving data in your Google Analytics account.
Keep in mind that it may take a few hours for the data to start appearing in GA4 after the initial setup.
