To shorten a link for an email, you can use URL shortening services like Bitly, TinyURL, or Ow.ly. Here's a step-by-step guide using Bitly as an example:

  1. Copy the long URL you want to shorten (e.g., https://example.com/article/how-to-shorten-a-link-for-email).
  2. Visit the Bitly website (https://bitly.com/) and create a free account if you don't have one.
  3. Once signed in, you'll find a text box on the Bitly homepage. Paste the long URL into the box.
  4. Click the "Shorten" button. Bitly will generate a shortened link for you, such as: https://bit.ly/3abcdef.
  5. Copy the shortened link provided by Bitly.
  6. In your email composition, highlight the text or phrase you want to turn into a clickable link.
  7. Click the hyperlink button (often represented by a chain or a globe icon) in the email editor.
  8. In the hyperlink dialog box, paste the shortened link you copied from Bitly into the URL field.
  9. Click "OK" to save the hyperlink.

Now, when recipients click on the phrase or text you hyperlink in your email, it will direct them to the original long URL, but through the shortened link you created using Bitly.
