3. In the search bar on this page, type "automatic tab discarding" to quickly find the feature.

5. Restart Google Chrome for the changes to take effect.

Keep in mind that enabling the automatic tab discarding feature may improve the performance of Chrome by reducing memory usage, but it may also result in suspended tabs being reloaded when you switch back to them.
