To add Google Analytics to a website, follow these steps:

  1. Create a Google Analytics Account: Go to the Google Analytics website (www.google.com/analytics) and sign in using your Google account. If you don't already have a Google account, create one by clicking on "Create account" and following the instructions.
  2. Set up a Property and Tracking ID: Click on "Admin" in the lower-left corner of the page. In the "Account" column, click the dropdown menu and select "Create new account" or use an existing account if available. Fill in the required details such as Account Name, Website Name, Website URL, and choose an Industry Category. Click "Get Tracking ID" at the bottom of the page. Accept the terms of service and Google Analytics will provide you with a unique Tracking ID (starts with "UA-").
  3. Install the Tracking Code on your website: Copy the tracking code provided by Google Analytics after obtaining the Tracking ID. Open your website's HTML code editor or content management system (CMS). Locate the tag within the HTML code. Paste the tracking code just before the closing tag.
  4. Verify Installation: Save the changes made to your website. Go back to the Google Analytics website and click "I've saved the code" at the bottom of the page. Return to your Google Analytics dashboard and click "Home" in the left-hand sidebar. If your tracking code has been installed correctly, you will see a message that your data is receiving traffic.

Remember, it may take several hours for Google Analytics to start showing your website's data. Once the data starts populating, you can explore various reports and insights within the Google Analytics dashboard.
