To use Google Optimize 360 with analytics, follow these steps:
- Set up your Google Optimize 360 account:
Go to the Google Optimize website (optimize.google.com) and sign in with your Google account.
Create a new container, which serves as the workspace for your experiments and personalization.
Install the Optimize snippet on your website by adding the code provided by Optimize to the HTML code of your web pages.
- Link Google Optimize 360 with Google Analytics:
In your Optimize account, go to the Admin section.
Choose the relevant container and click on "Integrations" in the left-hand navigation menu.
Under the Google Analytics Integration section, click on "Link property" and select the Google Analytics property you want to link to Optimize.
- Setting up the experiment:
In your Optimize account, click on "Create Experiment" and choose the type of experiment you want to run, such as A/B test, multivariate test, or redirect test.
Follow the prompts to set up your experiment, defining the targeted web pages, objective, variants, and targeting rules.
Ensure you turn on the "Google Analytics integration" toggle during the experiment creation process.
- Configure the Analytics goals and events:
In Google Analytics, go to the Admin section.
Under the View column, select "Goals" or "Events" as per your preferred measurement.
Create the goals or events that you want to track during the experiment and assign them a relevant name and details.
Ensure the goals or events align with your Optimize experiment objective.
- Enable Optimize 360 reporting in Google Analytics:
In Google Analytics, go to the Admin section.
Under the Property column, click on "Product Linking" and then on "Google Optimize."
Select the relevant Optimize container and click on "Link Configuration."
Choose the views where you want Optimize data to be available, and then click on "Save."
- Preview and launch the experiment:
Before launching the experiment, use the Optimize browser extension or the Preview mode within Optimize to preview how your variants will appear on your website.
Once you are satisfied with the preview, launch the experiment and Optimize will start directing website visitors to the different variants based on your targeting rules.
Monitor the experiment's progress and performance using the Optimize and Analytics interface and make any necessary adjustments.
